Managing your expectations requires a basic understanding of venous disease. This is accomplished with our medical education resources and our pre-procedure educational appointments. The venous system is complex and involves a great deal of knowledge to understand the challenges with each patient’s symptoms. Your symptoms and problems are specific to you and that is our focus. There is a general lack of understanding related to venous disease from patients and medical providers. Your symptoms may have been ignored or untreated for years. Our first priority is symptom relief and pain reduction. Cosmetic outcomes are secondary to treating the underlying problems.

Your choices for the treatment of varicose veins related to venous disease (valve damage and reflux) should be an educated one. You have the obligation to review your doctor’s level of expertise and the technology they utilize to treat the disease. CVD believes that the treatment should not be more painful than the disease itself. There are 3 procedure options to consider before you decide on a treatment technique: 1) VNUS ClosureFAST™ RF Ablation, 2) Laser ablation, 3) Vein stripping. Laser Ablation has been clinically proven to cause more pain, more bruising, and higher levels of narcotic pain medications post-operatively. Vein stripping has been replaced by more modern ablation techniques due to the complication rates and use of general anesthesia. Based on the clinical data, complication rates, and patient pain scores, CVD utilizes VNUS® technology to treat our patients. CVD trains other doctors and medical staff on the use of the VNUS VNUS ClosureFAST™ procedure.
